### Statement of Faith on Faith
As followers of Christ, we affirm that faith is the essential foundation of our relationship with God. Through faith, we receive salvation, grow in holiness, and live out our calling to be witnesses of God's love in the world. We believe that faith is a gift from God, empowering us to trust in His promises, obey His Word, and hope in the unseen.

### Introduction
Faith is the heartbeat of the Christian walk, a divine gift that enables believers to trust, obey, and follow God, even in uncertainty. It is the assurance of what we hope for and the conviction of what we do not see.

### Definition and Etymology
- *Definition*: Faith is a confident trust in God, His promises, and His character, leading to obedience and a life of dependence on Him.
- *Translations*:
    - *Greek*: πίστις (_pistis_), meaning "trust, belief, faithfulness."
    - *Latin*: _fides_, meaning "trust, confidence, faith."
    - *Hebrew*: אֱמוּנָה (_emunah_), meaning "faithfulness, trust, steadiness."
    - *Tagalog*: _Pananampalataya_, emphasizing belief, trust, and conviction in God.
- *Etymology & Root Word*: The English word "faith" originates from the Old French _feid_, derived from the Latin _fides_, which is rooted in the verb _fidere_, meaning "to trust."

### Major Points
I. *Faith as Trust in God*: Faith involves a personal relationship with God, trusting His character and promises (Proverbs 3:5-6, Romans 1:17).
II. *Faith for Salvation*: We are justified by faith in Jesus Christ, receiving forgiveness and new life (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 5:1).
III. *Faith in Action*: Genuine faith produces works of obedience, love, and perseverance (James 2:26, Galatians 5:6).
IV. *Faith and Perseverance*: Believers are called to grow in faith, enduring trials and trusting God’s sovereignty (Hebrews 11:1-40, Romans 5:3-5).
V. *Faith and the Unseen*: Faith focuses on God’s promises, even when circumstances are uncertain or invisible (2 Corinthians 5:7, Hebrews 11:1).

### Q: What is the connection of Faith to salvation and the purpose of Faith?
- *Connection to Salvation*: Faith is the means by which we receive God’s grace and salvation, not through works (Ephesians 2:8-9). It establishes a relationship with God, leading to transformation.
- *Purpose of Faith*: The purpose of faith is to glorify God, grow in holiness, and be a witness of His love, enabling believers to live purposefully and trust in God’s promises (1 Peter 2:9-10, Hebrews 12:1-2).

### Q: How does faith work in the lives of believers now and in the future?
- *Now*: Faith brings freedom, comfort, wisdom, and peace, influencing relationships and decisions, and turning worry into prayer (Hebrews 11:1, Philippians 4:6-7).
- *In the Future*: Faith assures believers of eternal life, victory over sin, and a secure place in God’s kingdom, motivating perseverance, service, and sharing the Gospel (Romans 8:37-39, 1 Corinthians 15:57).

### Biblical References
- "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God." — Ephesians 2:8 (NKJV)

### Conclusion
Faith is the heartbeat of our walk with God, a divine gift that empowers us to trust, obey, and hope in the unseen. May we cultivate a growing faith, anchored in God’s promises, and live as witnesses of His goodness. Soli Deo Gloria.
